  Rahul Khanna kicked of with his remarkable performance in Deepa Mehta’s Earth. This handsome, talented and an intelligent actor has always done films that challenge him. Though he made his debut with Deepa Mehta’s film, he feels equally excited to work with a new director like Anurag Singh. His forthcoming movie Raqeeb is all set to release.Rahul speaks to IndiaFM about Raqeeb and his association with PETA. After your last film Elaan, you almost went out of sight I have been meeting people, reading lot of scripts, traveling, doing some commercials. I have been busy in other work. They approached me and I liked this film and I thought it would be fun to do. Is Raqeeb a good comeback? Raqeeb is a murder mystery. It’s a thriller. It is just like an old fashion murder mystery with lots of twist and turns and surprises. It’s very contemporary story with lots of technology and feel of today. It is just like an old fashion murder mystery with lots of twist and turns and surprises What does the title Raqeeb mean? Raqeeb means rival. And who are your rivals in the film? I play a young computer entrepreneur who has a vast computer empire. My best friend is played by Sharman Joshi. He introduces me to this girl, Tanushree Dutta. We fall in love and getting married and then she kills me. Sharman cracks down mystery of how and why it happened. And how was it working with these rivals? (Laughs) Well, it was great working with them. I feel the film belongs to Sharman because he has done a wonderful job. He is really good actor. His character develops from a fun loving friend to the serious person who solves my murder mystery. Tanushree is a lovely girl but she kills me in this movie. She is fun to work with. Although I don’t have many scenes with Jimmy, but from whatever little we interacted with each other I think he is a fun loving man. I feel the film belongs to Sharman because he has done a wonderful job When did you finish shooting? We finished it late last year. Then why is it releasing so late? We finished it in November and then there was some post production. How’s the equation with Anurag Singh been? This is his first film as a director. He is very bright and focused in his work. He has been the assistant director for many years so he knows everything. He doesn’t waste time and is very quick. Does the film have any similarities to Akshaye Khanna starrer Humraaz? Why would it have any similarities? Any other films in the pipeline? There’s nothing to announce right now.In that case why are you seen so less? Are you being selective or you aren’t offered roles? I can only choose from whatever is offered to me. And out of what I have been offered, I try to choose ones which are interesting and appropriate for me to do. You are actively supporting PETA. Tell us about you association with them. I have recently done a campaign for them. It’s about the plight of Elephant captivity. I am an animal lover and PETA had come to me with the information regarding elephants being treated badly. I feel elephants are really gentle creatures. They can’t speak for themselves so I thought I’ll be happy to lend my voice to help them.
